Our Story

Jaden and Carolyn knew of each other from the University of Manitoba in the early 2010s and had mutual friends. However, they formally met in November 2019, after Jaden had a day off and kindly drove out to meet Carolyn in Selkirk over her lunch hour!

In typical Carolyn fashion, she was late and Jaden patiently sat at Boston Pizza waiting for her. But he says it was worth it – she instantly caught his eye and the conversation flowed effortlessly. 

Carolyn immediately brought Jaden into her world with a formal friend’s birthday party, corporate events, historic volunteering, and lots of going out on the town. 

When the Covid-19 pandemic hit, they made the decision to go virtual, as they both saw so many patients. The relationship took an old-fashioned turn – with talking on the phone and writing. Jaden would read every night to Carolyn over the phone, and Carolyn would constantly remind Jaden to sanitize his hands and wear a mask. 

As the weather turned, they carefully chose outdoor walks, then hiking with friends. 

In October 2022, Jaden surprised Carolyn, who was on a business trip in Montreal, by planning the perfect day of history, art, music, and food – ending in a romantic proposal in Montreal’s trendy and historic Gibby’s. Three years later, we’re best friends, true loves, and world changing partners for life. And we’re finally ready to make it official!
